Located right off the highway in Kakabekka Falls, the Provincial Park requires an Ontario Parks parking permit during operating times between Victoria Day and Labour Day weekends.
We left the parking lot via the Boardwalk Trail and turned left toward the viewing platforms which offered a spectacular view of the majestic falls. There is a ramp for wheelchair accessibility to one of the platforms, but there were several trees obscuring the view.
We followed the boardwalk and quickly arrived at another viewing platform with a spectacular view of the Kaministiquia valley. A set of stairs leads back to the parking lot as well as tying into the local trail system.
We doubled back and took the boardwalk to the right this time. We quickly came to a foot bridge leading to the other side of the river. On the other side, the board walk led us to two spearate viewing platforms to get different angles of the falls.
There was a gift shop on the far side of the falls, but it's only open during the summer months during which Ontario Parks operates.
There is a trail called the Mountain Portage Trail that goes past the gift shop to several other viewing platforms, that give beautiful views of the gorge and river. These trails are very well kept and easy to hike, and are also wheelchair accessible.
The provincial park offers campground facilities for anyone interested in staying overnight with their tent or vehicle.
