PART ONE

We found Wattswood park at the end of Mount Pleasant Court (off Maki Rd).  There is a cul-de-sac with ample parking and a clear sign where the trail system starts.

We walked up the trail and soon encountered a branch to the left.  We followed the main trail.  There was also a branch to the right shortly after, but we stayed on the main path which headed up a hill.  There were also some interesting rocks to the right.  As we climbed the hill, we could see a beautiful valley to the right as well.

When we reached the top of the hill, we came to an intersection. We decided to go further up the hill and follow the yellow markers.  To the right were some cool rocks we jumped off with our snowshoes.  The were fun to climb around on.

The trail came out to a lookout after about five to seven minutes of hiking.  The lookout offered a spectacular view with Sault Ste. Marie and the St. Mary's River in the distance.

We continued down the trail and soon came to another fork.  We took the right path which circled down and up around the back end of the cool rocks and came to yet another intersection near a familiar valley and headed to the right again.  This took us along the valley's edge with some picturesque views back to the first intersection.. Turning left brought us back to the car.

PART TWO

Since our first hike here ended up only taking us about 15 minutes, we decided to try out more trails in the area.  We started up the main trail again and turned left at the first fork.  It zig-zagged up and down around the trees and soon came to a fork.  We took the right path straight up a hill and came to a familiar intersection.  We went straight and walked along the edge of the valley to another intersection.

We turned right and almost immediately came to another fork.  To the right again, we followed a trail with a red and orange marker.  We started climbing again noticing the huge, old trees and rugged, rocky terrain.

We soon came to a fork to the right, but we stuck to the left on the main trail.  Soon we were heading down hill again and came to a trail which appeared to go through someones property, so we stayed on the main trail.

Soon the trail flattened an straightened and there was noticable more jack pine. It appeared that the trail markers had changed to green.  Shortly after the straight-stretch, we came to someone's house.  The trail seemed to continue on, but we felt uneasy cutting through people's yards so we turned back.

When we got back to the first fork on the red/orange trail marked trail, we decided to take it.  It brough us down the far end of the valley along some interesting rocks  back near the start of the trail.  Turning left at the main trail brought us back to the car.

Be sure to be aware of wildlife in this area, because Alisa and her friend encountered a wolf while hiking here with the kids.
